Academic Success

Three Bruin teams received NCAA Academic Progress Rates (APR) Public Recognition Award (Women’s Beach Volleyball, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Tennis)

Over 300 Bruin Student-Athletes to Academic Honor Roll

89% 4-year graduation rate

8 teams with a perfect 100% graduation success rate

15 teams have a graduation success rate above 90%

3.303 average Team GPA for 2022-23

21 teams had a Team GPA above a 3.0

Every quarter in 2022-23 we had over 400 students per quarter earn higher than a 3.0 GPA

94 students above a 3.75 cumulative GPA

Baseball
Ranked as high as #7 in national rankings

Men’s Basketball
Pac-12 Champions, reached the Sweet 16 for the third consecutive year; Jaime Jaquez Jr. named Pac-12 Player of the Year

Women’s Basketball
Returned to the Sweet 16 round for the fifth time in the last seven tournaments

Beach Volleyball
Won third Pac-12 Championship in program history

Men’s Cross Country
Highest team finish of the season was 2nd at LMU South Bay Twilight Meet

Women’s Cross Country
Finished 12th in NCAA West Regionals

Football
Beat USC, 38-20, for the second-straight time in the Coliseum; Laiatu Latu named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year

Men’s Golf
Opened the season with individual tournament victories from freshman Luke Powell and junior Omar Morales

Women’s Golf
Notched the first victory of Alicia Um Holmes’ head coaching tenure at the Windy City Collegiate Classic

Gymnastics
Finished fifth at the NCAA Championships and won a share of the Pac-12 regular season championship

Women’s Rowing
Multiple first-place finishes at the Big Ten Invitational

Men’s Soccer
Claimed first Pac-12 title under fifth-year head coach Ryan Jorden

Women’s Soccer
Pac-12 Champions for the 14th time in program history and third time in last four years

Softball
17th regular-season conference title in program history

Women’s Swimming & Diving
Earned the program’s most individual NCAA Qualifiers (seven) since 2016 and most All-Americans (five) since 2017

Men’s Tennis
Earned a spot in the NCAA Championships team tournament

Women’s Tennis
Freshman Fangran Tian won the NCAA Singles Championship

Men’s Indoor Track & Field
Earned a total of 14 All-America honors

Women’s Indoor Track & Field
Distance Medley Relay team finished fourth at the NCAA Championships

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field
4x400m Relay team earned third-place finish at the NCAA Championships

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
Federica Botter set new school record in the javelin and won the Pac-12 title

Men’s Volleyball
Won the 2023 NCAA Championship, the program’s 20th in its history

Women’s Volleyball
Earned three victories over top-25 opponents under first-year head coach Alfee Reft, finishing with an 18-12 record

Men’s Water Polo
Advanced to the NCAA Championship match; held a 24-game winning streak to start the season

Women’s Water Polo
Made 27th overall national championship appearance

Student-Athlete
Leadership Experience

Community Outreach

Over 3000 hours of student-athlete support to events like Dribble For Victory Over Cancer, Be The Match, Mattel Children’s Hospital, Bruin 4 A Day, Fit Day with UCLA Lab School, “I’m Going To College”, Resilience Run, Zero Waste Basketball Game, Jackie Robinson Fantasy Camp for Veterans, Clothing and Food Drives.

Career Development

Over 1000 hours of Career Development participation in programs such as the Business Etiquette Dinner, Alumni Networking Events, Career Fairs, Resume Workshops, Senior Series; Transition from Sport to Career, Athletes to Career, and Industry Guest Speakers.

Leadership & Personal Development

Over 1500 hours of Leadership and Personal Development participation in programs such as Wooden Academy Speaker Series, Wooden Academy Legacy Program, Wescom Financial Literacy Program, Black Student-Athlete Summit, Health & Wellness Week, “Great Athletic Cook Off” Cooking Class, Wescom Welcome Back Picnic, Pac-12 Leadership with SACC/SALT, Scholar-Athlete Recognition, Field Trips, and Social Activities.
